Hi all!
I volunteered to host the June meeting, and I'd like for us to read and discuss Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane. If you follow this link to amazon.com, you can read about it (and buy it as a bargain book, incidentally):
http://www.amazon.com/Kaffir-Boy-Autobiography-Youths-Apartheid/dp/B00150GHN8/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1212847838&sr=8-1
In looking at dates, I was thinking of June 29th, to give us some time to read. Does anyone have any strong objections to either the book or the date?
For some reason, I can't access my school e-mail from home, so if you would, e-mail me at michellecrocker@msn.com or post responses on the blog.
I look forward to seeing you on the 29th!

April Meeting
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd try posting here and also sending an email. I sent a message through Janet that I'd be happy to host the next meeting. Would April 27th or May 4th be better? I've got two ideas for books: The Poe Shadow by Matthew Pearl (author of The Dante Club) or Across the Wire by Luis Alberto Urrea. Does anyone have a preference?

Many Thanks
This is a great idea, Janet. Thanks so much for creating the blog.
The Middlesex discussion was most enjoyable. I'm sorry more folks weren't able to make it.

Who says "you can't teach old dogs new tricks?" Thanks to Janet for dragging us into the modern world.

Welcome
We can use this space to stay up with club happenings and as a place to share when one of us can't make it to our gathering. I have invited all to post to the blog, and will set up a way for you to subscribe to the posts as soon as I have that figured out. (Maybe someone out there knows how to do that.) This would bring all new posts directly to your email. I pulled the addresses from the last email, so if you know of someone who was not on the list, please send their information along and I will add them to the list.
We decided on the name this afternoon.
